Hello, I’m Maria Smith, an artist based in the gorgeous Cotswolds, UK.

My work is rooted in a love of softness, light, and storytelling. Watercolour allows me to work intuitively — letting colour flow, bloom, and find its own way on the paper. I’m endlessly inspired by the landscapes around me, the changing seasons, and the quiet, magical moments that often go unnoticed.

Over the past few years, a small character has gently made his way into my sketchbooks and paintings… a little bunny called BiP.

BiP began as something just for me to help my anxiety through art — a simple, comforting presence that appeared again and again in my tiny watercolours. He has slowly grown into his own little world, full of feeling, colour, and quiet stories.

BiP’s paintings are small, whimsical, and personal, each one capturing a moment, a mood, or a tiny chapter of his journey.

This is a new and unusual direction for my work, and one I’m very excited to finally share to spread more awareness of anxiety.

Alongside BiP, I also create a range of other original watercolour paintings, fun Jello Paints & floral acrylics, these are available to purchase through my website. I also happily take on commissions, working closely with collectors to create one-of-a kind pieces filled with personal meaning.

My goal is to create original watercolour art that feels uplifting, gentle, and accessible , art that makes people smile, pause, and to feel the present moment. I believe art should be for everyone, and my small paintings are part of that vision: affordable, original pieces that can be collected, gifted, and loved.

Alongside my studio practice, I’m also the founder of Let’s Paint UK, where I host relaxed, friendly painting workshops in the local community using acrylic paints. These sessions are all about creativity, mindfulness, and joy — welcoming absolute beginners and experienced painters alike.

Thank you for being here and for stepping into my little artsy world.

Enjoy browsing.
